Letters to a Failed State

A Generation’s Cry for Justice. A Nation’s Call for Renewal.

Chapter 1: The Silence That Screams

“Ukimya si amani.” — Silence is not peace.

In a country where silence has long masqueraded as peace, Kenya’s youth are rewriting the narrative. Raised in homes that whispered caution and classrooms that echoed obedience, they inherited fear disguised as wisdom. But survival is no longer enough.

When the Finance Bill of 2024 threatened to auction their dignity, they didn’t wait for saviors—they became them. From Nairobi to Kisumu, students, coders, farmers, and boda boda riders marched in unity, chanting for justice.

Chapter 2: A Bill We Couldn’t Afford

The Finance Bill of 2024/2025 taxed bread like luxury, fuel like privilege, and dignity like debt. In its pages, the youth saw not policy, but punishment. And they rose—not with violence, but with vision.

They reclaimed Article 37. They invoked the spirits of Kimathi, Mekatilili, and Maathai. This chapter is still being written—in courtrooms, classrooms, hashtags, and hymns.
