From Kakamega to Europe: Building Climate Justice and Call for Solidarity

🌍 From Kakamega to Europe: A Call for Climate Solidarity

By Victor Isaacs Mushila

In the heart of Kakamega County, Kenya, a quiet revolution is underway. It doesn’t roar with machinery or dazzle with skyscrapers—but it hums with purpose. Powered by biogas and driven by community, this initiative transforms organic waste into clean electricity for schools, lighting up classrooms and powering computers where candles once flickered.

We’re now scaling it to include clean cooking—reducing deforestation around Kenya’s only tropical rainforest and cutting kerosene use, which contributes to fossil fuel extraction and indoor pollution.

This is not just a local solution. It’s a blueprint for global climate justice.

🔋 Why European Climate Advocates Should Care

Europe has long championed sustainability, circular economies, and green innovation. But the climate crisis knows no borders. The communities most affected—like those in rural Kenya—often contribute the least to global emissions yet bear the brunt of its consequences.

🇫🇷 L’Europe défend depuis longtemps la durabilité et l’innovation verte…
  • Decentralized energy: Our fixed-dome biogas system powers 30 LED bulbs and 15 computers daily
  • Circular economy: We convert 120–150 kg of organic waste into clean energy—every single day
  • Climate literacy: Students and youth learn not just science, but stewardship. They become Earth Defenders in their own right
🇫🇷 Notre modèle est reproductible et reflète les valeurs climatiques européennes…

🌱 Kakamega: A Living Laboratory

Shinyalu Constituency, near Kenya’s only tropical rainforest, hosts over 130 schools—each a potential hub for climate education and green energy.

📚 Literature Meets Technology

My books—Whispers of Nature and The Earth Defenders—are woven into this initiative. Students read, reflect, and respond. They don’t just consume energy—they understand it.

🤝 A Call to European Partners

We invite European climate advocates, donors, and educators to walk with us:

👉 Story: Stop Deforestation—Fuel Learning
  • Support replication: Help scale this model to more schools across Kenya, East Africa, and countries like Angola
  • Share knowledge: Collaborate on curriculum, monitoring tools, and technical refinement
  • Amplify voices: Feature our youth stories, poems, and innovations in your networks
🇫🇷 Nous invitons les partenaires européens à nous rejoindre…
