đ From Kakamega to Europe: A Call for Climate Solidarity
By Victor Isaacs Mushila
In the heart of Kakamega County, Kenya, a quiet revolution is underway. It doesnât roar with machinery or dazzle with skyscrapersâbut it hums with purpose. Powered by biogas and driven by community, this initiative transforms organic waste into clean electricity for schools, lighting up classrooms and powering computers where candles once flickered.
Weâre now scaling it to include clean cookingâreducing deforestation around Kenyaâs only tropical rainforest and cutting kerosene use, which contributes to fossil fuel extraction and indoor pollution.
đ«đ· Au cĆur du comtĂ© de Kakamega, au Kenya, une rĂ©volution silencieuse est en marche…
This is not just a local solution. Itâs a blueprint for global climate justice.
đ Why European Climate Advocates Should Care
Europe has long championed sustainability, circular economies, and green innovation. But the climate crisis knows no borders. The communities most affectedâlike those in rural Kenyaâoften contribute the least to global emissions yet bear the brunt of its consequences.
đ«đ· LâEurope dĂ©fend depuis longtemps la durabilitĂ© et lâinnovation verte…
- Decentralized energy: Our fixed-dome biogas system powers 30 LED bulbs and 15 computers daily
- Circular economy: We convert 120â150 kg of organic waste into clean energyâevery single day
- Climate literacy: Students and youth learn not just science, but stewardship. They become Earth Defenders in their own right
đ«đ· Notre modĂšle est reproductible et reflĂšte les valeurs climatiques europĂ©ennes…
đ± Kakamega: A Living Laboratory
Shinyalu Constituency, near Kenyaâs only tropical rainforest, hosts over 130 schoolsâeach a potential hub for climate education and green energy.

đ Literature Meets Technology
My booksâWhispers of Nature and The Earth Defendersâare woven into this initiative. Students read, reflect, and respond. They donât just consume energyâthey understand it.

đ€ A Call to European Partners
We invite European climate advocates, donors, and educators to walk with us:
đ Story: Stop DeforestationâFuel Learning- Support replication: Help scale this model to more schools across Kenya, East Africa, and countries like Angola
- Share knowledge: Collaborate on curriculum, monitoring tools, and technical refinement
- Amplify voices: Feature our youth stories, poems, and innovations in your networks
đ«đ· Nous invitons les partenaires europĂ©ens Ă nous rejoindre…
